Choose Your Track
Teen campers choose to participate in one of
three programs - Band/Choir, Vocal/Piano,
or Jazz. Youth Campers may only participate in
the Band/Choir or Vocal/Piano programs.
|
 |
Band/Choir Track is the largest program of the Signature Music Camp.
Campers participate in daily band and choir rehearsals, show choirs and
jazz ensembles. Other offerings include improvisation, sight-singing and
master classes.
|
|
Vocal/Piano Track is a great way for vocalists to build repertoire and
develop piano skills. Campers participate in sight-singing, concert choir,
show choir, piano and voice classes. Vocalists have the option of a
master class focus in music theater, classical or jazz.
|
|
Jazz Track provides broadened exposure to jazz performance and
history. Campers participate in big bands, combos, improvisation,
listening, vocal jazz and jazz history classes.

Additional Program Components
Master classes. Classes are conducted daily with same or similar instruments including flutes, double reeds, saxes, trumpets, percussion, piano, voice, etc. Students work on basics of tone production, technique, breathe support, articulation, and ensemble performance. All campers in the vocal program also take group piano class.
|
Sight-Singing. Classes teach the solfeggio method
(Do-Re-Mi). Unison, two and three part exercises develop
intonation and independent reading skills. Camper and
parent feedback indicates sight-singing is an invaluable
camp offering.
|
Jazz Ensembles. A 15-20 piece group with trumpets,
trombones, saxes, piano, bass and drums. Jazz styles from
the swing era to bop are performed. Jazz A and Jazz B
provide opportunities for varied abilities.

Concert Band. The band performs selections that represent
the best of traditional and contemporary band literature.
Students learn norms for section leadership and develop
listening skill that enhance musicianship.
|
Show Choir. Show choir includes singing and dancing in
exciting and dramatic productions. Show choir provides
on-stage fun and learning to take back to school in the fall.
Mixed show choir includes boys and girls singing in four
part harmony. Girls show choir sings in two and three parts.
Broadway, jazz, and pop tunes are featured.
|
Concert Choir. The entire camp participates in the mixed
(SATB) choir. Audiences enjoy the varied repertoire of folk,
gospel, patriotic, multi-cultural and jazz arrangements.
Many campers return home and join a school chorus after
the camp choir experience.
